More Improv

Yes, it seems like weeks ago, but I thought i'd still share this foto. Along with a quote I heard during the 'Drunk Ho-Chi-Ha':

"If a ho is said in the forest, is it heard?" -  "Or whatever is said in the forest, stays in the forest?"

Bad Advertisment

As a kid, I loved to watch advertisement on my grandma's TV. I still appreciate good ads, but I also see a lot of bad, bad stuff. Who doesn't hate the shouty ads? Also, every ad for women's hygiene products. Anyways. I do not really know what to make of this "Staring is Caring" ad. As far as I understand it, you buy their shoes or skirts and they help people affected by AIDS and HIV. So far so good, but how is staring helping in any way? Buying the stuff helps, not staring at the people wearing it, right? I don't get it. Yeah and the last two are just some straight forward offensive ads from Germany.

I have to tidy up

I really need a guinea pig. Check out this hilarious twitter #whereismyguinea.

Goodbye Groningen

Being the incredibly chaotic person that I am, I'll be back for a resit. Because why should anybody not screw up last minute after three years of successful studying? I managed to move out, however. Maybe I will update with a picture of how our car looked after we stuffed three years of gatherings in there. And that was after I donated a lot of my stuff to Mamamini and a trip to Milieudienst. I can only recommend throwing something heavy in a huge container to reduce stress levels. It's like therapy. Alcohol helps, too.

These two were at my door at eight in the morning to wave goodbye. If you are looking for true friendship people, this is what it looks like.

Today

Today really couldn't get any better. Except if Annika were throwing a garden party after a thunderstorm. On one of my last days in this beautiful city. I raise a glass to all of my friends.

PS: Why is today so awesome? I got published.

Strangers

Tonight will be the last improv show of Stranger Things Have Happened I will watch for a while. Seven days left in Groningen! In the GIF you can also see Laura, who studied the art of improv together with me. You can also see just how hilarious they are. Sometimes they can't even keep a straight face themselves. Check out more fotos in my previous blogpost. See you tonight at 20:00!

Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

Sorry for being absent for so long. I was slightly preoccupied with passing my last-before-last exams and celebrating the arrival of summer. But I also managed to go to Amsterdam and have a look at the newly re-opened Rijksmuseum. If you haven't been, it's definitely worth the trip. I started the earliest from Groningen with one of the cheapo day-tickets (they are only valid after 9 am). I went straight to the museum via La Place for some soup. I stayed until they closed, which is kind of early at 5 pm. Of course, I did not manage to see everything, even though I basically ran through some of the rooms I was not too interested in. Well, I have been known to spend a lot of time in museums. And by a lot I mean so much even my dad grew impatient.

So I will share some pictures, but not much of the actual pictures, because the camera does not catch their beauty at all. The building alone is pretty cool, sometimes one has to think about looking up from all the exhibits and look at the ceiling or walls.
Just go there, pick some periods you like and follow the map. Don't give up when you can't find some of the stairs at first try. I spent like 15 minutes trying to find the modern era. Don't miss out on the Asian pavilion.

View from the sculpture gallery on the Museumplein.

They have a little library in there. It is just the dream of a library.

This is porcelain from Meissen, the birth place of European porcelain and around an hour to drive from my home town. We actually have some of this stuff. Feel so cool. Next picture is a Dutch version, unfortunately forgot the town.

What I thought was really cool is the "camera magica", which is basically the earliest form of a projector. They used these little slides from above to project stories. However, it is not known today how these machines really worked at the time. At the time, of course, most people thought they were magic.

Two cool picture details. Details are the most awesome things about old art anyway. The cat interrupting the old woman's prayers. The guy in a huge picture (a little smaller than the Night's Watch), who is indicating his lack of drink. Looks like me two nights ago.

Don't stay in the museum for lunch! Go out on the Museumplein and get a snack in the sun. My particular milkshake even had some inspiration from Rietveld.

I have never seen an actual restaurant on a platform before Amersfoort.

Meanwhile, in Tuttendorf

Mom: "Das braune ist übrigens das Wasser."

We should really have a before picture. This is usually a  calm little river you can walk through without getting your panties wet.

More

Oh, I totally forgot to upload this. Not sure if Thomas is showing us the finger. Probably not. Maybe?

He taught us well, as can be seen in this performance of Consenting Adults.
