Vandalism

Half of you probably don't know, but most ladies toilets have little writings on their doors. Some are particularly funny. This specific one combines Statistics with marketing strategies and human relations/gender studies. I decided that this could make a great new category. If you have more, send it my way.

The wicked

not my picture

“No sight so sad as that of a naughty child," he began, "especially a naughty little girl. Do you know where the wicked go after death?"

"They go to hell," was my ready and orthodox answer.

"And what is hell? Can you tell me that?"

"A pit full of fire."

"And should you like to fall into that pit, and to be burning there for ever?"

"No, sir."

"What must you do to avoid it?"

I deliberated a moment: my answer, when it did come was objectionable: "I must keep in good health and not die.”

Updates!!

THE Party, Part II has been updated, guys. Also, finally some photos from our performance.

Perfect

This HAS to be one of the greatest GIFs ever created.

Stranger Things

Monday nights are improv comedy nights in the O'Ceallaigh. "Stranger Things Have Happened" performed together with "Wat Ihr Wollt" from Oldenburg last night. As always, it was packed and we had a blast. They even performed one piece of German improv. I didn't think I would like that, but it was not bad. Anyways, enjoy the pictures.

Groningen Culture

Grote Markt by night

The Improv Comedy is not the only group at USVA that was presenting this week. I just came back from the dance performances. I have to say it is definitely worth watching even if you don't know any of the performers. I also love the Grand Theatre in general. Look after the jump for cool performances.

THE Party, Part II

WHY was this taking so long? Look after the jump for amazingly underlit/overlit pictures and moving pictures.

Let's get this started.

Bäcker

Probleme, die man in Holland nicht hat.

Nothing really happened since I came back, except our Improv Comedy performance. However, nobody filmed it (even though they promised), so only the people present are able to appreciate our efforts. I am thinking that it might be for the best, because in its essence improv is made for the moment. Maybe that is why it is not hugely popular on TV. Though nothing good is ever popular on TV.

See you!

Ok, I'm off to my other home. Maybe I will post pictures. Probably not. I'm busy. Good night.

Shakespeare

Eeer, yeah, that is what Shakespeare would look like today, according to the people, who made the picture. You can probably find them by clicking on the link. It's from a British TV show. Anyway, I really liked how the blog was clicked on the other day more than a hundred times! There also seems to be a weird site linking here, no idea why. Can't find the link either. How is that even possible? To them I say:
I do desire we may be better strangers!

To all the other people, who read this blog, I love you! Or I at least like you. But basically nobody visited the blog yesterday. Probably because I forget what I was told to put on? It was something about it being better to have an explosion, than no plate in the oven? My memory is patchy. We were also talking about the word, that describes the fear of long words: Hippopotomonstrousaequipodaliophobic. Well, I hope you feel educated enough for one day. But if you have any life questions, you can send them to me and Annika will answer them. Promised.

Living Germans

*** Don't try this at home ***

So, kids, don't play drinking games. If you can't avoid it, try not to get the King's Cup. Suit up. Dance like there is no tomorrow. Or like it is already tomorrow. Check regularly on your passed out friends whether they are still breathing. Don't be tempted by other friends to try the Tequila. It's always awesome to wake up without a hangover. Not, however, if you notice after 5 minutes that you are still drunk. Under no circumstances, go on the roof. There are living Germans there!

Bevrijdings

Apparently, winter is finally over. Which is why nobody has time to put pictures on their blogs. Or maybe that's just me.

So this is what we've been up to. At least what I was able to capture with my camera. Tuesday, it just left me, when I wanted to take photos of M. in his throne in the Cantina Mexicana. If you have not been there, take some friends and order a bit of everything. Include the Guatemala.

Little doggies

Once upon a time one of my fellow students and her boyfriend decided to adopt a dog. They had told her that the dog was sterilised, but as it turned out... she was pregnant. A few weeks later eight little puppies were born.

Now, I am not a big dog fan, but I had to see this. So when my friend was dogsitting this week, I decided to take a peek. Of course, the little ones are unbelievably cute. Also, they require about as much work as a human baby and are just as sleep-disrupting.

We also took a stroll in the Stadspark. I never knew they had like a little zoo in there. The dog was very interested in one particular chicken, which was unfazed by her constant barking. It rather seemed to enjoy the excitement. Later, a deer came to have a look, too.

Queen's Day

I loved the idea of renaming the Nassauplein, which is right next to the Nassaulaan, into Koning van Oranje Nassauplein. All the other pictures of the day are either blurry or you guys don't look your best. No idea why that could be.
Concerning A.'s comment below: It is surprisingly difficult to fire up an 'instant' barbecue, even if you have three guys present. May that be a lessen for all of you: as soon as you get a new place, buy a cheap and small, but proper barbecue. Also, befriend handy people.

Queen's Night

We celebrated the last Queen's Night. There were some promises made on another blog, where they also explain what the huge fuss is all about:

Obviously, as a nation, the Dutch do know how to party. I am not sure it actually was the best party, because I am more into smaller stuff and there is more to come this year, so it would be really hard to make that judgment now. There were less people than last year, which I did not mind much. I am not a huge sucker for being trampled by crowds. However, we did not go to Amsterdam (who in their right mid would?), so who are we to judge. Also, we did not leave the house much on actual Queen's Day. Thanks to our Dutch friends we managed to watch the King's song live on national TV. What a heart-warming moment. Thank you for sharing the highlights of your culture.

Ok, have fun with the pictures. The first is a shot of beer, the ultimate orange drink for this night.
